All salesman say they are different. "You will have a different experience with us. We work as a team." It is the same tactics wrapped in different paper.
I was looking to trade in a vehicle to buy or lease another. I spent a week and two weekends giving them info on my current vehicle, application, trips to dealership and phone calls. My "team" seemed very nice and wanting to "make things work." They responded to my phone calls for the most part and were very friendly.
It was all just a waste of time. I wish they would have just been up front about my trade-in value (which was 1/2 of what we told them were expecting). Especially given that they had my info up front and knew what I was expecting to put down from my trade.
I would have respected them more if they were. I could have made plans or other arrangements to sell my vehicle on my own, but instead we were lead to believe we were on track for our expected trade-in value. Once I filled out an application...they had us. It's a hit on our credit and going elsewhere is hard now.
I am just disappointed on multiple levels. Some disappointment could not have been avoided...reality of my trade-in value. However, much could have been avoided with less tactics and more honestly up front. I am not mentioning names of sales people. I do not wish to get anyone under scrutiny, but I hope they would have handled it better.
