| - *Brides beware!!* If you care about customer service and receiving your new wedding dress in pristine condition, you may want to reconsider giving this place any of your money.
My best friend found her dream dress at this store during her first visit. The staff were attentive and pleasant all the way through her paying the deposit for the $4,500 dress.
When the dress arrived six months later, we went in for her initial fitting. We waited 15 minutes before even being acknowledged! This was at 6 p.m. on a weekday and the store was not busy. After trying on the dress, it was decided that alterations would be needed but my friend would have to return for a consultation with the on-site seamstress.
I was not able to make it to the appointment with the on-site seamstress but received a tearful call from my friend afterwards. Because the dress has a button-down back, the seamstress wouldn't take in the dress unless my friend agreed to a corset-back or the material of the dress would be ruined. My friend obviously wanted the button back but she was more upset about the seamstress' attitude about the situation, which came off as rude and condescending. The store agreed to bring in a more experienced outside seamstress to meet with my friend.
We arrived on time for our appointment with the outside seamstress but she was 45 minutes late; however, she was knowledgeable, courteous and confident that she could help my friend. She was 30 minutes late for our next meeting (slightly better than the first time) and we were pleased with the progress on the dress. For the final fitting, she was only 15 minutes late and my best friend was in love with her dress again! The seamstress would need to make some final adjustments and steam the dress, then we would pick it up two nights before the big day.
After my friend picked up her dress from Becker's, she immediately drove it to my place for safekeeping. We hung it up, unzipped the bag and... THERE WAS A BIG COFFEE STAIN ON THE FRONT OF THE DRESS.
I convinced her to call the store, which was just about to close. After being transferred to two different people, the store owner finally came on the phone. The owner asked if my friend had signed the release when she picked up the dress (she had). The owner asked if my friend had checked the dress before leaving the store (obviously, she hadn't). My friend didn't think she would have to check the dress because it was already steamed and in the bag, which I think is a fair assumption. The owner said because she signed the waiver, the store was not responsible for the dress anymore. After some discussion, the owner hastily said they would look at the dress if it was brought to the store in the morning.
After her experience, the last thing my friend wanted to do was go back to the store when it wasn't guaranteed they would be able to do anything for her dress. Luckily, I happened to have some chalk at my place and lightened up the stain enough that it wouldn't be visible when the dress was on.
I feel that the way the store handled the situation, in addition to our experiences during previous visits, was unprofessional and unbecoming of an establishment that caters to brides. A bride who is about to get married has a lot on her plate--it isn't wrong to assume that a store specializing in wedding dresses will deliver a wedding dress to a client in the same pristine condition as it arrived from the designer. If the store had told my friend it was protocol to check the dress before signing the waiver, she would have done it.
I would give this store zero stars if Yelp allowed it, but since my best friend found her dream dress here and the outside seamstress did great work with it, I'm okay with giving it one star.
