I really wanted to like this neighborhood bar & grill and was encouraged by the reviews here and the fact that the place was packed when we arrived at 6PM on a Friday night. Oh well....
I give them 1 star for having a happy hour until 7 while most places end at 5 or 6. That being said, the happy hour prices are not THAT great, especially for food ($2 off select that average around $10). I ordered a vodka & cranberry that was incredibly weak and tasted like KoolAid. I completely resent that I had to pay $4.75 for that drink. I stuck with Barefoot White Zin for the next drink. Husband got a $5 Guinness. Friends got Blue Moon & a margarita. I tasted the margarita and it, too, was incredibly weak and I'm pretty sure he paid $4.75 for that as well.
Frankly, I thought the appetizers were nasty. We ordered nachos, roast beef sliders, a quesadilla and chicken tenders (which turns out weren't part of the happy hour specials but our waiter failed to inform us of this fact). I had a little taste of everything and decided most of them were not worth a second bite. The only thing I actually halfway enjoyed were the chicken tenders.
Our waiter was nice but swamped, so he kept forgetting our drinks and wouldn't return to the table for long periods of time.
Definitely won't be returning to Uncle Bear's.
