  • Lincoln's Haberdashery.. what a nice treat to have in South End. I decided to come here after my MADabolic workout to grab some breakfast and coffee. When you walk in, you're greeted with a wonderful wine selection, as well as some novelty gift items. (I wanted to purchase like 90% of them.) I proceeded to the register where I ordered "Mary's Biscuit" which was on ciabatta bread, and inside was stuffed with avocado, bacon, eggs, and cherry tomatoes. Oh.. and Gruyere cheese, duh. I have a pet peeve.. and that's when my sandwiches do not hold up. On the first bite, everything slid out. This was due to the avocados being halfway sliced and just placed on the bread. I know this isn't a HUGE deal, but just a personal pet peeve. So if you get this sandwich with avocado, grab a fork. I will say I do not think this breakfast sandwich was worth $13 at all. Also.. one very important thing. Their iced coffee is a hot drip coffee over ice. At least that's how the guy made it. The decor of the place is lovely, and the gift selection they have is wonderful! There is also a wide variety of baked goods (the banana bread looked fantabulous.) If you're looking for a good beer selection.. maybe this place isn't the absolute best.. but the selection is decent. They had Baby Maker so it's a winner for me. Why am I docking a star? I almost docked 2.. but that wouldn't be too fair. I went to visit on Monday around 1pm.. and the doors were locked. I noticed there was a staff member in there. She looked at me, and then turned around. I didn't get any explanation as to why they were closed, and there were also many other people wondering the same thing. A heads up on the partial closure would have been nice. I'll be back, but probably just for baked goods and some small gifts here and there. If you're in the area, try them out. It's a hip little spot with ample seating. Check out the spot in the back up the steps. Comfy seating up there and its nice and secluded.
