  • So I get a notice from Honda stating my paint was covered under an extended warranty for the clear coat coming off. I have a 2008 Honda Civic EX-L. Well sure enough, most of the clear coat was coming off! I took my vehicle to Honda West and they agreed that it was covered under warranty and they could get it repainted. I clearly expressed that I wanted ALL the sections covered under warranty to be repainted. They said they would have the body shop look at it and evaluate the condition. I picked up the car a couple weeks later and it looked just "ok". I'm a very realistic person and understand that new paint will look different than paint 8 years old. I asked if all the sections were repainted and the service advisor said "the body shop said you wont have any issues with the other sections". I again said I wanted all the sections painted. Well, they just blew me off. Moving forward 5 months, sure enough my car looks like sh*t. The remaining sections clear coat are all coming off. I took the car back to Honda West and I was told my warranty was now expired and I was now responsible for the costs to repaint the remaining sections. I am a ASE Master Tech, ASE L1 advanced auto diag tech and ASE Certified Service Consultant. Don't tell me I don't know how the system works. After working my up the chains, I was offered a 50% discount on the paint repairs. There was no way I was going to accept that. I am a current repair facility manager and deal with customers all day who ask me about the purchase of a new car (which I told Honda West). I wont be recommending Honda West. Kinda sad because I have owned several Honda's, family owns several Hondas and I even have a Honda motorcycle and pressure washer. I reached out to the Sonic Automotive Group (which Honda West is a part of) and I got the same response. I requested that my name be removed from all communications (email). Sonic said they would take my name off all notifications but it may take a couple weeks and to be patient. Well, eventually the emails stopped. Moving forward 4 months, I'm now getting Honda West's emails again. WOW, really???? They can't get that right..... Just avoid this place! Pictures coming soon of my car!
