I'm reviewing this as if it were in the category of "a place that cuts hair" since there is apparently a huge difference between salons, barber shops, and quick/cheap chain stores. I don't feel bad giving it 1 star because on Yelp it is also under "Men's Hair Salons" category and they're using that word but it's really not appropriate.
I saw it had practically a 5 star overall rating so I thought it would be a good change from the salon experience I normally get. It was crowded with about 8-10 people ahead of me and seemingly an hour wait. They do not appear to shampoo or rinse under a sink (which you get before and after in a salon), and it didn't appear as though they would be pleased doing a scissor cut. It seemed like a clippers, razors, and designs-in-your-scalp kind of place.
The floor was absolutely covered with hair, like someone dumped out grass clippings from their mower. One of the barbers seemed to have chewing tobacco in his lip. I felt like I walked into a tattoo parlor (but I have never been in one of those). Maybe it's just the South Side and I'm the weird one in all of this.
I'm sure this place is great for many people, but definitely not me, and definitely not you either if you're used to being pampered in a salon.
