  • As a Gold SPG member, I spend average 40 nights per year in higher end properties around the world. I think I have a good bias to evaluate dozens of SPG properties including the WHotel in Las Vegas. I stayed one night at the W Hotel last week. I will break down my stay to help you. Arrival : Be warned in advance, the WHOTEL Las Vegas is at the north end of the strip. There is nothing to walk too from the WHotel. . No restaurants, no bars, nothing. I stess this because usually WHotels are in the middle of the action. So, why did the WHotel decide to locate itself where it is? First, you will immediately notice the WHotel shares the land and facilities and of the SLS hotel, another SPG property. Both properties were operated as the Very very old Sahara. I was extremely disappointed upon realizing that this was an old hotel with new paint, carpet ,!and furniture Check in: routine and business like. Room assignment: as I entered the room, I smelled strong chlorine. I left the room and requested another. Honestly, no one wanted to come to the room to identify the smell. I got the impression they did not care at all. My next room was directly below the first room. Luckily no smell. I found the room lacking character and more importantly I felt like I was in the Old Sahara, with new paint, carpet and bedding. What can I say for the money you can stay on strip in a beautiful NEW modern suite at Caesar's, Bellagio, Linq, and dozens of others. I found the rooms at the SLS to be extremely similair and 2/3 the price. I was very disappointed in my room decor and layout. Facilities: common areas are shared with the SLS by a short hallway connecting the WHotel with the SLS. Perk, the coffee house, along with several casual eateries in addition casino. The only restaurant worth mentioning on the property is Katsuya. Excellent sushi, but there are other locations inside other hotels in the strip area. The WHotel doesn't have there own dining facility or nightclub. The facilities at this WHotel are subpar to any WHotel property. Lastly, be aware this WHotel does NOT have a gift shop. Dare if you will to cross the street in North Vegas to reach a Walgreens. Not a safe area of the strip. Check out: routine and business like. The Staff: not interested in you or your wants or needs. The staff seemed much more interested in making each other more comfortable than me, the guest. When I did mention my disappoint to Alex, the operations manager, I found his response to be uncaring and unwilling to understand the need of a guest with a physical disability. Surprising, I made sure to address Alex's manager prior to my departure. When I spoke to Chelsea on duty manager after checking out, I was also met with deaf ears. Whatever I told Alex was immediately told to Chelsea. So when I was trying to explain to her my disappointments with my stay at the WHotel, she already heard it all from Alex, thus she did not care about anything I had to Stella her. Final thoughts: I would strongly urge you to look at Caesar's, Cosmopolitan, Bellagio or the Four Seasons. All these hotels are less expensive, much better location , with fantastic amenities. I promise you one thing about my review, if you stay at the WHotel in Las Vegas you will be extremely disappointed
