| - I had surgery and a brief hospitalization at Desert Springs Hospital. Overall, it was a good experience. I was asked to show up at 0630 AM the morning of surgery, then waited for about thirty minutes. The preoperative nurses and staff were great, even the environmental services people were friendly and helpful. I changed into a gown, had vitals taken, then an IV placed. Surgery actually went approximately on time which almost never happens in a hospital. The OR staff were great, especially the circulating nurse whom I saw as an advocate. The only bad experience was the recovery room. The ward nurses, nurses aides, and other staff were phenomenal. The ward staff were pleasant, knowledgable, responsive, and checked on me every hour. It was the ward nurses who got my pain under control within about five minutes of my arrival on the ward. I sailed through the rest of the hospitalization and was discharged early.
