  • Once upon a time like 10 years ago this used to be the spot to go, especially late at night for all you can eat sushi. As I've gotten older all you can eat sushi has lost its appeal, but late night sushi is still a very real need. The last two times I have given in to the craving and not wanted to drive more than a few minutes from the comfort of my home, I had come here and been severely disappointed. Don't get me wrong I have lowered my expectations for a place who does all you can eat, which I personally don't do. I just get a roll or two, and had remembered they had some rolls I really liked. However it was just just barely passable the first of the two times I went back, and the last time I went hoping it was a fluke it was basically inedible. This past time just walking in to get my order the place had an old fishy smell hidden under the scent of the oil from the fryer. I got the hurricane roll. The rice was dry like it had been sitting for a while, the fish inside it might as well have been cat food, the salmon tempura was almost like dehydrated salmon that had been coated in a tempura batter that had no crunch at all. It had just soaked up all the oil and become soft and spoungy. To make matters worse it was like 13 dollars for this sadness in a styrofoam container. They also put the sauces meant to be on the roll all in different places. One was on top, another in the container on the side, and the other I realized after forcing it down my throat (I felt bad my boyfriend got it for me, and didn't want to waist it) ,had been stuck in the bag itself away from the roll completely. Honestly right across the street is Albertsons. They are open late too, the rolls are cheaper, and even though they aren't the most amazing in the world, are still 10 times better than what I consumed last night. Supermarket sushi at a non Asian market should not be better than a sushi house with chefs making things to order. This is basically a travesty, and the nostalgia I had for this place is not enough to get me to come back ever.
