Since I expect all staff, especially in an upscale new coffee shop in downtown Toronto, to be extra friendly, I was quite turned off by the person who rang in my order today. She did not greet me in any way (not even with a 'Hi' or 'Hello'), nor did she crack a single smile the whole time she was processing my order. When I asked if I could have my receipt at the end since she didn't offer it to me, she scoffed at me!! Purposely, I didn't thank her afterwards, and then she had the nerve to give ME a dirty look.
When my boyfriend came to meet me at the coffee shop shortly after, I recalled my experience and he agreed that this staff member did not have a very approachable face.
I have had plenty of experience working in the service industry and I *know* how important it is to be friendly to all customers, regardless of what ever other personal issues I may be dealing with outside of work. Management should have a talk with this staff member about how to be pleasant with customers. It only takes a few seconds to ruin a customers' experience.
Also, the tea that I ordered (more expensive than Starbucks) did not taste as good as the tea that Starbucks has to offer.
