I was a fan of the Paul Mitchell School after a couple of visits, using Groupon deals for cut and color services. This recently changed with my last appointment. The lead instructor immediately asked if I had a Groupon, and made me authorize my consent to be charged an additional fee for extra color in case 1 bowl of color was not enough. I have short hair. I've never had to use more than one bowl of color until this visit.
Coincidence? Seems to me they are having to honor too many Groupons and are trying to recoup the lost revenue with shady plays like this one.
The hairstylist also left a lot to be desired. She made numerous mistakes during my haircut, which took three different instructors to salvage. Her explanation to the instructors? "Her hair is too fine and it keeps slipping out of my fingers." Wow. I accept that this is a learning institution and mistakes will be made. But not owning up to your mistakes with such a lame excuse like this? Guess what, honey? I'm not the only client you'll be seeing who has fine hair!!
The lead instructor and my hairstylist were the epitome of unprofessionalism. The whole place has gone downhill since my initial visits. I'll be taking my business back to the Aveda Institute.
