  • A shower was not providing hot water. The plumber came out and said the Moen cartridge had to be replaced. He claimed the Moen product was very expensive and the total cost was just under $300. Since we were having company over and they would use this bathroom I agreed to the job. I subsequently learned the real cost of the cartridge was less than $60. In fact, the plumber told me I could have bought a new handle, shower head, and bath head from Lowes for less than $120.
