| - Went here yesterday with a Living Social deal for a massage. The place can be a little deceiving, while it doesn't look like much from the outside, the spa area is actually gorgeous. Once back there, it feels just like being in a luxury resort. I thought the couple's mani/pedi and hot tub spa room was especially adorable.
So I went in to get a massage and when my masseuse walked up to introduce herself (I think her name was Megan?), I got a little worried. Here was this cute little girl; perky, but pretty tiny. I immediately starting worrying that she couldn't give as deep/firm of a massage as my horrible knots require. However, I was thoroughly impressed with her skills! She did a great job of massaging with very firm, but not painful pressure, probably one of the best neck rubs I have ever had! The very beginning of the massage started with something I had never seen before; she put two warm washcloths on my feet and rubbed pressure points through it. It was not only a really nice way to start off the relaxation process, but also a huge insecurity reliever. I don't know about anyone else, but the feet are one of my favorite parts of any massage, yet I always feel a little self-conscious about how dirty or cracked my feet might be while some poor person has to rub them. So this was a nice way to qualm those concerns. Also, I was really impressed with her "bedside manner" (can you call it that if she's not a doctor?). I am used to masseuses kind of trailing a finger along your body as they move around you to let you know where they are, but for some reason when she was doing it, it almost felt like it was part of the massage. Rather than just lightly trailing, she was putting slight pressure in just the right places.
There were only 2 real drawbacks to my massage. First, I didn't get any kind of scalp or facial massage in, which I usually love. Of course, I didn't ask specifically for it, so really could just be my own fault. Plus, to the poor girl's credit it was hair washing day, so I wouldn't blame her for not wanting to touch my greasy strands. And second, it was pretty cold in there. I know it was probably 120+ out and people who were actually fully clothed and working weren't cold, but I was pretty chilly throughout the whole thing, which got a little distracting. However, overall this was a fantastic massage. It felt so much longer than an hour, and in a good way!
