  • 11am lunch. Caveat: I've heard what a jerk this guy is supposed to be, and I really wanted to be able to call him out on this meal. We'd previously tried Gordon Ramsay BurGR at Planet Hollywood, and it was very good. So this visit was our shot to see what the big deal is. We actually sat at the bar before it opened. We were sitting right there, watching, and the bartender did not use the ingredients listed in the menu. Now, this was a recon visit, so we didn't say anything--I just took notes for this review. Our other drink was as stated in the menu. Okay. Both drinks were very tasty, even very good. (We're into mixology, so take that for what it is--the drinks were good.) We had fish and chips and the beef burger. We both thought the food was excellent. Damn it to hell, I cannot trash him on this meal. I would have liked more peas with the fish, but no ding for that. Incidentally, I don't think it's widely known that many of these big shots' restaurants are actually joint ventures with the hotels. Very likely there is some lack of control and issues with quality control in such arrangements. Nevertheless, if a guy who expects 110% out of everyone in his sphere of greatness puts his name on something, he gets held to that same standard. So, 4 out of 5 stars. It was very good, but not 110%. Next Vegas visit is GR Steak. Stay tuned. I'll be taking notes.
