| - All right...what to say about this Dunkin' Donuts location...
If you like Dunkin' Donuts (and I do), then you'll like the donuts here--consistently good donuts and coffee and always-friendly staff. I also like the location. Even though there are 15-20 stores in the Las Vegas area (depending on how you search), they seem to be hidden. No doubt this is a factor based on where I drive (or look when I'm driving), but I'm all over the valley and rarely see one. Since I live on the central westside, this one is close to my house, and that makes me happy. It's in a storefront with a large parking lot, so parking isn't an issue. And if you want to grab your donut and coffee, and then walk, run or bike off the calories, you can head west and find yourself in Red Rock canyon pretty quick. They also offer a military, police and fire department discount. Thank you for that!
But, this store can be like a long-term dating relationship with a very moody person. I'm not sure what's been going on for the past several several years, but everything about this store seems to swing from solid to horrible. I see familiar faces working there, but there must be enough employee turnover that the new (untrained?) employees tend to overshadow the experience. I mentioned the folks are friendly, and they are, but it's amazing how often they can't get an order right. Guys: it's donuts and coffee. Yes, and sandwiches and such too, but it's not that hard, unless you're making it hard. This leads me to believe management isn't training folks well.
Then there's what's available. After years of visiting this store, I still can't figure out what drives the number of donuts (and bread products) they make. One day they have everything, the next they're out of everything. I grew up seeing the "it's time to make the donuts" commercials, but I don't think that guy works at this store. It's too often that it seems no one made the donuts, they didn't make enough, or whoever was making them walked out. Here's the deal: when your whole business is based on selling donuts: it's probably a bad thing when you regularly run out. Even stranger: Dunkin' Donuts features some pretty tasty seasonal selections. They're advertised and have a place for them on the shelf, but they may not have them.
As a chain, I'd give Dunkin' Donuts a solid 3-star rating. Some locations would easily get 4 and maybe even 5, depending on the employees. This store though: I can't go higher than 2-stars. Even though the folks who work there are always nice, as a store this place seems to be left hanging and missing its sense of purpose. Management, I'm looking at you...
