| - I went to the AGO recently to visit the King Tut exhibit. Most people thought it was a spectacular exhibit but for the price you pay, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It was 'ok'. The artifacts were small for the most part. The most interesting pieces were a toilet seat, a cat sarcophagus, a death mask (not 'the' death mask), some of the jewelry, a bed and the large statue that guarded the tomb. Personally, I think it's a lot more interesting to open a book and look at the pictures of the Egyptian mummies, the statues, the ruins, etc.
We took a look around at the rest of the gallery afterward and as an artist who appreciates other art, I'm disappointed at the selection they have. I got wayyyy more out of the large outdoor art show at Nathan Phillips Square then viewing the artwork at the AGO. The architecture is interesting but beyond that, it's a little dry.
On a plus note, many of the items at the gift shop are quite beautiful. The jewelry and vases are stunning. If you're looking for something unique, I suggest checking it out.
