| - I was in desperate need of a salad for supper during a full day at the nearby convention center. The Corner Bakery in the same complex was already closed, so I turned to Starbucks. To my relief, they had a fridge stocked with many kinds of salad. I selected the Hearty Veggie and Brown Rice Salad Bowl. The description states: "With Butternut squash, broccoli, peas, roasted beets, kale, red cabbage, and roasted tomatoes. Lemon tahini dressing."
I cringed that such a small salad cost about $7. The cashier was pleasant and quite apologetic that they were out of forks, but that wasn't a problem for me, as I had some plastic utensils back in my hotel room. He also offered me a cup of water to go, which I didn't need, but I appreciated the thoughtfulness.
I figured the salad would be okay. I was surprised it turned out to be quite delicious--the flavors and textures came together in a wonderful way. My only big complaint is that it's so SMALL. It didn't really make for an adequate meal on its own and nothing else at Starbucks was a suitable accompaniment.
Still, I'm heartened that they had such a tasty to-go meal and I'll keep this in mind at future conventions.
