Run! Forrest Run! Do not fall into the One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning Trap!
Our air conditioner began blowing warm air last night. I called One Hour Air Conditioning first thing in the am and was quoted a $120 fee just for the technician to come out. Of course I wanted to get other quotes so I called a couple more reputable companies and found they were charging between $65 and $85 for an estimate so I cancelled my appointment for One Hour. A few minute later I received a call back from One Hour and was told that this fee would be waived. Great! Mark showed up as scheduled, went out back and looked at our AC unit. Within five minutes he was back in the house explaining to me that the compressor was out and with the new US EPA regualtions that with replacing the compressor I had to also replace the air handler, furnace and coil for a whopping $8,999. My next option would be to replace just the compressor but the coil and furnace in the atticwere not compatible but he could make it work for $5,300. He did a great job telling about the financing options, how much the payment would be and the warranties included but I was HONEST and told him I had others coming to give me a bid. Guest What. The breaker for the compressor was blown in our breaker box. The 2nd company that came out to visit is turned the breaker box on and we had cold air immediately! Mark! I think you need to go back to diagnostic training school. How in the world could you test my compressor with the breaker blown? Guess what else? We have a converter bottle on our current unit which means we do not have to replace the entire system. I would like to take this opportunity to let consumer know that One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning is out to rip off customers. Shame on you One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning whether you care or not!
I am going to join Angies List just to make this post! I also just posted a complaint with the Better Business Bureau for unethical practices.
