| - I went to Unique U to dye my hair and got ripped off! My hair is medium length and she charged me $135 for full color without blow drying and styling!!! AT LEAST, include blow drying with that. She would not change the price and stood her ground. Ana is the boss and she overcharges for most of her services. She thinks her hair salon is worth so much, but it's an average salon with people who are just doing their job. I have to admit the people who work for Ana are very caring and professional and friendly. However, it's not even that well-known like Donatos hair salon or Josephs Coiffures in Mississauga- and those places don't even charge that much for my hair length. At the end of my service, she was dishonest- I know most people charge better for medium length hair. She said that she used 5 bottles in my hair for hair color, and they are $20 each, and that she didn't make much profit at all from my coloring because she used so much hair color. If that was the case (that she didn't make much profit from my hair dying), she would be out of business! I Know for a fact she as being dishonest/ lying! My friend's mom owns a salon herself and buys hair color for $10/ bottle. I couldn't go to my friend's salon that day ,because the women who dyes hair, wasn't available. Anyway, Ana said she used 5 hair color bottles in my hair. However, I am confident that she was exaggerating a great deal and she used a maximum of 2 bottles in my hair (there is a lot of dye that comes in a bottle). She also said her worker (the lady who dyed my hair) spent 4 hours on my hair, when in fact, it was only 2.5 hours! I did check the time of start and finish.
I am not going to lie, I was happy with my hair color and enjoyed the friendly and funny company of one of the ladies who was her worker and was very sweet to me. She and this other lady who was working on my hair were super sweet and very nice, and did a thorough job when it came to colouring. BUT, the boss, Ana, is the owner and has the final say on what's included in the service and the prices, and I really feel she was dishonest and unjust on the pricing for my length of hair and work (forget styling, no blow-drying either!). At least she should have included blow drying if I was paying so much.
The other review is by someone who got a good deal for this salon on line through a promotion. This salon would have been worth the price if it was upscale like Donato's or Josephs, was esthetically very pleasing from inside (it's average inside), and had a nice boss. Don't go to this place if you want honesty, professionalism, and reasonable prices. This salon is definitely not worth as much as the boss charges for the work!
