| - Buying a car is one of my least favorite activities, but this turned out to be pleasant and comfortable experience. To purchase a 2014 Chrysler Town and Country minivan, I used the buying services available through Costco, Pen-Fed Federal Credit Union and USAA, all applicable to the dealership at Earnhardt Dodge-Chrysler. They offer basically a fixed price over invoice that the dealer has agreed to honor. Could I have received a better deal? Maybe, but I hate to hassle over the price and I do not expect the dealer to lose money. I just wanted a reasonable deal that I could feel good about.
I made an appointment with the internet sales representative, Joe Cann and we discussed the available vehicles, options and other information. Joe was friendly, straightforward and pleasant to work with. He certainly was a low pressure, professional salesman that I would use again.
A few days later, after I had completed lots of research on the Earnhardt web site, among others, I returned with my wife to look at some specific cars. On the web site, I was able to read and print copies of the window stickers on the cars I wanted to see. This is a really handy feature, much better than just looking at the general options. We checked out the colors and options, then went for a test drive. We drove with Joe to an off-site car storage facility to see one of the vehicles because it was not on the main lot.
After we made our selection, Joe showed us the numbers with the Costco, Pen-Fed and USAA prices. Pen-Fed was best by a hundred dollars. All were reasonable. Once we agreed on the price, we went to financing with Richard Rindahl, a most pleasant and professional representative. He offered us a great financing package through Chrysler Capital, better than Pen-Fed, and also explained some of the warranty options. We usually do not purchase extended warranties and felt no pressure to do so, but, considering that we plan to keep this vehicle for a long time and it has lots of electronic bells and whistles, we decided to add a warranty to the purchase.
My wife and I have been very pleased with our experience at Earnhardt Dodge-Chrysler in Gilbert AZ. We think that the Town and Country, especially with its stow and go seating, will be a good vehicle for us, since we travel around the country with my wife's employment as a travel registered nurse.
