| - My mother fell out of her bed onto a hard floor while in her rehab care home. Soon after that injury, the same facility had her fall out of her wheel chair, and finally she was injured in an auto mishap on her way to a doctor's office visit while in the rehab's van. The doctor's appointment was made without family knowledge or prior permission. My mother was in the rehab facility because she fractured her hip, and her surgeon wanted mom to have three weeks of rehab. I begged the rehab facility to put down cushioned mats in case my mother fell out of her armless hospital bed, but they refused, but I left with a promise by the CA she would be watched 24/7. The fall, per her Orthopedic surgeon, extended her recovery time from three weeks to eight plus weeks mostly bed time since she was no longer allowed to walk. I initially had a telephone conversation with Mr. Bernstein, and he felt we had a case against the rehab facility. I met once with Jessica Munoz, Esq. in January 2015, I mentioned my mother's age (90), and asked if we had a case. I was told an investigator would review the case, and get back to me. I handed over all my notes, pictures, letters, and the rehab facilities medical records soon after my visit with Jessica. I had no calls from this firm for six months. I made one inquiry call which was quickly, harshly dismissed by Mr. Poisson with him stating how long, expensive medical lawsuits are. Pretty much I got the impression "Don't call us, we'll call you". I received a July 24, 2015 letter stating they do not wish to represent my family in this case. The letter, inaccurately states, they were confirming a conversation I never had with them regarding dropping our case. In the letter they mentioned time was running out to file my lawsuit, which would be because of their total lack of communication to me. There also was no mention when my records would be returned. I am now back home in Hawaii, so I cannot easily get my documents. My mother passed away March 28, 2015 a few months after her stay at Life Care. I believe Life Care hastened my mother's demise. I can only surmise this case would not be the financial windfall Bernstein and Poisson initially felt it would be even if they won, thus we are dropped.
