My husband and I had a great time at the MGM Grand. We stayed for 6 days last week and we were in Las Vegas for our wedding. When we told them it was our wedding they sent champagne and strawberries to our room that night. We asked for a strip view room that was located on a high floor which was not accommodated but it is what it is.
We didn't eat at any of the higher end restaurants nothing really caught our eye but Tap's was good, quick, and reasonably priced.
Here is a little known secret if you are staying there go to the Ka show bar. Go to the Ka show in general it is amazing but if you get a refillable Ka cup for a mixed drink you can get 10 dollar refills Wednesday through Saturday nights and they are 32 ounce drinks. It's actually a good deal.
The casino was nice minus them taking all of our money but that was what we expected. We played a lot of craps and the dealers were awesome and helped us out with questions and didn't make us feel like we were out of place for not being Craps sharks.
The MGM is huge and it is easy to get turned around in. Check out and check in was easy for us but we arrived on a Tuesday night around midnight and checked out Monday morning at 5:30 so we didn't have to wait in lines. I liked that it was connected to the monorail which we used a few times.
The pool was nice too. We stayed in a Tower Spa Suite and the room was nice. The jacuzzi tub is why we booked the room but the enamel on the tub was peeling off. We told the bell hop about it and he just told us that is how it is so you can tell it's older. There was some staining on the caulking around the shower and what looked like rust stains through out the bathroom but the room was perfect for what we needed it to be.
I would go back again I liked the location. The other side of the strip I feel like is much more busy and filled with drunks and is at times trashy. At least at MGM you get the best of both worlds it's not as trashy as the other side of the strip but you can still walk to what you want.
I also liked that it had a food court. THat made getting food quickly and cheaply possible. It is also about a block from an ABC liquor store and a convenience store so you get snack and whatever else you want for cheap.
