  • I really heart Old City Soda and I really liked their restaurant! We've been fans of Old City Soda for quite some time- we like local businesses and we also like locally made and produced soda. We've been constant buyers of Old City Soda at different festivals, pop-ups, etcera. When I was walking around earlier this year in our neighborhood, I received a flyer for a pop-up event of theirs- so we went to check it out- only to be standing at the counter and the CLE hustles judges walked up right next to me (at that point, we had no clue what was going on, just suddenly there was a camera). Only to find out later this year, that Old City Soda was a winner of the show and had opened up their own shop in the Gordon Square district. Needless to say, we were happy that our favorite soda now had a place to call it's own. It's a large open space restaurant- with lots of seating of high tables as well as small tables and couches (and various board games to help occupy people as well). Not only do they have a list of their sodas, but also now they have pages and pages of different cocktails and concoctions as well as some snacks. They also had a brunch menu on the weekends (11am-3pm), but we arrived after 3pm. We decided on pretzel bites (they have a list that you can check off with a pencil of what item you want, what flavor dusting on it, what dip, etcera) as well as the vecchia citta (b/c I really like their grapefruit soda) and a ginger beer soda on tap. The drinks were delicious- and I really liked the vecchia citta- as the grapefruit soda was well balanced. The pretzel bites were also very delicious- they weren't the normal soggy buttery Auntie Anne's- they were toasted pretty bites with soft chewyness in the middle- and between the two of us, we split one basket (which was plenty), dipping the crunchy chewy bites of pretzel in our honey mustard dip. Overall, Old City Libations is a nice addition to the Gordon Square area and we're glad to see our fave CLE soda now has a storefront! Check it out if you like great soda!
