  • So, I am, or was, petrified of moths. They totally freaked me out. Because of my visit to this magical place I'm not so much afraid anymore. (Thank God, I can now leave my doors open at night in beautiful weather and not be uptight about them flying in. ) After my sister and her husband paid over one hundred dollars for four adults and three children, we walked in and were able to catch a three d movie before experiencing the magical wonderland. (Not being sarcastic either...it was amazing!) But the movie was also exceptionally great. With your nifty glasses, it appeared as if the butterflies were all over the theater. And, it wasn't a boring documentary either. The way the narrator told the story of one butterfly's life journey caused me to actually feel personally involved with this fragile creature. It was time to enter this fairy tale like area where the butterflies gracefully fluttered in the hundreds. They were everywhere. We were told to watch where we stepped so as not to step on any that land on the path. I have never seen so many butterflies in all my life. It really was quite magical for me. When all my group was ready for a snack we went to the cafe. Yes, terribly expensive, but it's relative. You'll need to remember I'm pretty cheap. Let me give you an example: A pbj, the kind my students received when going on a field trip, a bag of chips and I can't remember what else, cost close to $5. There is also a room with fish, sting rays that you were able to "pet" , and a few displays of bees, spiders, scorpions, (complete with a black light) ants, and a giant centipede. However, after being in the mystical room of butterflies, I wasn't impressed. The butterfly wonderland is a hard act to follow. The last thing I want to mention is that the staff was very friendly. There was a guy who was busy caring for the butterfly room and as I stopped to take a pic, he asked if I had questions, which I did. The employees were great. Yes, I would definitely recommend a trip to Butterfly Wonderland. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because I thought it was pretty pricey. But then again, as I mentioned before, I"m cheap. So, you decide.
