  • The hotel is situated for the airport so, no, this is not necessarily the best spot to plan your 60-member wedding reception, honeymoon or 1-year anniversary. Granted, they do have several banquet rooms. Interesting. But for you travelers who need a quick, easy and no nonsense location to rest your head and bones before skipping off to your next location, this may be the place for you. Couple of things to know: 1. It is pretty much within walking distance of the airport, which is in one of the largest cities in the country. So you're going to hear sounds pretty much all night. The AC/Heating unit drowns out the sound very nicely. 2. This place gets packed. But kudos: With your stay, you can park your car for 10 days at no additional fee. And they offer a shuttle service (reservation required). 3. The prices, from what I could tell this beautifully warm January month, peak out at around $100 for a room. $100 for an overnight stay. I know what you mean. But, again, you'll likely save something like $45 in parking by avoiding the airport. Pays for itself. 4. Check-out time is at noon, which is pretty awesome. Sometimes they will allow a late check out at no additional cost. 5. They have a guest laundry facility on site. The room itself was nothing fancy but, at the same time, I did not feel like I was rooming Harry Potter style -- under the staircase. I went with a king. The room was spacious with plenty of breathing room. In the room you will find: 1. A cushy bed with this funny looking miniature pillows 2. A desk and flat screen television set (I never turned it on, so not sure about channels) 3. A very potent AC/Heating unit (I set it to 60 degrees and almost froze myself out within the hour) 4. Dispensable soaps and lotion. The shower has shampoo, but no conditioner, which I found to be so so strange. Also, the fragrance is nicely androgynous -- good for male and female-identified individuals easily. 5. The free WIFI can be somewhat slow. They also have motorcycle and also oversized vehicle parking, computer and printer terminals out front in the lobby, a fitness room and a designated smoking area. There are no smoking signs all over the place -- and a $250 fee if you smoke in your room. The are two saunas and the pool measures at 8.5 feet at its greatest depth. How fun is that! The jacuzzi is kind of rickety but, hey, it works. Also, unlike many other Best Western locations, this place does not have a warm breakfast included. There is a restaurant attached -- Rodehouse is the name (every time I hear that I think of that Family Guy episode where Peter is driving around, kicking the steering wheel and saying, "Roadhouse," with every turn). I didn't try the restaurant, but it is traditional American -- standard breakfasts and steak on the menu for dinner. And they have soda and snack machines, which may serve some of you well. There are virtually no restaurants around, and (besides Roadhouse) certainly not within walking distance. The nearest drug or convenience store is something like three miles away. But, in all, a decent find for budget travel.
