| - As far as the location it is nice, out by mountain with a desert backdrop and not an overly congested/crowded area, with a nice dog park nearby and access to the 215. The apartments themselves are nice. Maintenance workers are really friendly and are prompt when it comes to responding to maintenance requests. Management seems pleasant, however, is nothing to be impressed with when it comes to managing. I had undergone a situation of financial hardship where I couldn't make rent on the first of the month, but I would have the money by the 6th. I asked if there was any way to receive a 5-day extension, or waiver or anyway they could work with me and they said no (given, this is after nearly 2 years history of paying rent on time every month no discrepancy). They told me the late fee would be accessed on the 3rd day of the month and then it would be a $5 late fee for every day after that. On the 2nd day (NOT the 3rd), I had already received a $30 late fee and a "5-day eviction notice." Then on the third day I had received another $30 charge, which was later explained was the $5-a-day late fee for every day after that for the "5-day eviction notice." Only problem is that last time I checked 5 times 5 is 25, not 30. The other problem is that I had the money and paid rent plus $60 in bogus fees on the 6th of the month. I was told the 3rd was when the late fee was assessed (and then $5 per day afterwards [afterwards = starting on the 4th]), so by that statement they would have only had the right to charge me "$5 a day" for 2 days as of the 6th, which was the day that I paid, but they charged in advance 5 accumulated days which was a period of time I did not yet reach/lapse and then said they couldn't fix (aka making up charges and stealing).
The other problem is that they advertise green living/ clean living/ great place to live.... maybe somewhere between there and "no open flames within 15 feet of the building" I would have hoped cigarette smoke wouldn't be a problem I would have to deal with. Especially when its nice weather out I have my balcony door open - Which apparently is a luxury I don't get to enjoy at this apartment complex despite paying over $800 monthly. I have neighbors that just moved in and light up on their balcony, we live above them so of course the smoke rises and the draft just vacuums it into my living spaces saturating everything with the carcinogenic matter and rancid smell. Even after closing the door and opening the front door to get that poison out of my apartment that I am forced to breath in, it still takes 15- 20 minutes for the smell to dissipate from MY living quarters. This is bulls**t. And I'm sure we'll get some pathetic response from the apartment about how "they have the right." Although, the conflict is that when someone else's behavior or activities extends outwards beyonds themselves and now involves others in a harmful or disrespectful way, now the other party's expectations of rights have been violated in the process, and its going to be a problem, and its going to escalate. Their management has done a piss poor job with any dispute resolution or even attempt at a response a after a couple notifications that have been issued. The question I have is what if someone was living here had asthma, or pulmonary disease of some sort, etc., and cigarette smoke could agitate their respiratory system, and now their quality of life has to be reduced because they're being forced to breathe this crap in, the neighbors are aware of it and don't care, and management is basically saying deal with it? Needless to say, We won't be renewing another lease.
