  • Had a great stay at Hotel 10 when visiting Montreal for the Jazz festival. The place has many positives, and some few negatives that hopefully will get addressed. Here are some of key points that stood out that would be helpful for future visitors / guests. The Positives: + Great Service: Absolutely fantastic service at the front desk and the overall management of the property in general. When we checked in, our room was bang above the hotel's nightclub and we knew right away that would mean an earplugs sleep without any guarantees that the thumpa humpa from the club below would be impervious to the earplugs. (And I personally refuse to use earplugs so...) So we immediately went to the front desk and they were extremely accommodating assuring a switch given they had an option. Sweet! + Neat Rooms: The rooms were very clean and quite spacious. With big windows overlooking whichever side of the city / street that your room is facing. Nice curtains to keep the early sunshine at bay. Enough closet space, a mini fridge, a safe, modern interior design and clean carpets. Same was the case with the bathroom, Very spacious with enough room between the sink and the glassed in standing shower which was really a decent size. + Comfy Mattress: This is usually which makes or breaks a stay away from home. And usually I do not expect the hotel mattresses to match the exact comfort level that I am used to in my own home, but a bad mattress in a good, reputed hotel is a no go. This is where Hotel 10 gets 5 out of 5. The mattress was super comfy, with equally comfy pillows and clean sheets. Really up to the mark! + Perfect Location: This probably is another highlight which makes this property extremely appealing to me, I like to stay slightly away from where all the touristy hot spots are. And this is what I liked about this place when i looked it up online while searching the various options. And my research was indeed fruitful. Despite being on a major road, the hotel is not in the middle of the craziness of Saint Catherine or in the Old Montreal for that matter. And if you get a room facing rue Clark, you are golden. And now, some of the sore achy points which I hope the management takes note of improves upon. The Negatives: - Doors: Unfortunately, where the rooms are almost immaculate, the doors were a big disappointment. Inconsiderate guests who really don't have the decency and manners (which I totally understand goes out of the window when your stomach is home to a bottle of vodka after a night out of drinking!) to be considerate of other guests, can bang close the doors getting in and out of the rooms. While it is a non issue during the day time, I definitely got woken up a couple of times at night (especially Saturday night) when I could hear drunk dudes thrashing their doors with as much force as they possibly could. It was not fun. So hopefully the management can do something to change the doors' closing mechanism. I am not into business of door installations but I know good hotels have doors that cannot be shut with force and a bang. So that should be addressed given how good the property is otherwise. - Ice Machines: This one is a very minor crib. The floors do not have ice machines. And you have to call room service. This can be a positive for some patrons who would not mind staying in bed while being treated with a chauffeured ice delivery. I - unfortunately fall in the other bracket. In any case, this was hardly a matter. And can be classified as an FYI point. Overall - a great hotel, with enough space in the lounge and the faux carpet lawn above the night club to hang around in between the check ins or the walks back and forth in the very fabulous Montreal. Free wifi was strong! Valet parking although expensive was useful for the safety of your car. But hope they do something about the doors! Would come back and stay here again for sure.
