We've been to this theatre many times in the past but this review is for their Stars and Strollers event which is a weekly afternoon matinee for moms (and dads too) and their babies.
If you don't believe that there's a baby boom in Toronto right now, you haven't been to one of these events. We arrived on a Wednesday around 12:45pm for an afternoon screening of "This is 40" and found it to be pretty busy with many moms arriving in groups of 2-3 with their babies. Movie pricing is slightly discounted to $10.99 for this event.
There is stroller parking inside in front of the theatre, as well as a change table. I noticed an additional change table inside the women's bathroom. The stroller parking was nearly full when we arrived so luckily I had just brought my little one in the car seat.
Yes, there were some babies that cried throughout the movie but I didn't find it to be disturbing...I just tuned it out. This is probably the only time you can bring your baby to the movies and not worry about disturbing the other movie goers. A few moms even stood throughout the movie in the aisle, quietly bouncing their babies.
The volume was suppose to be reduced and the lights were to be dimmed but not all the way - I didn't really notice if either of these happened. It felt like just a regular movie to me.
I'd suggest going with either another mom or some one else so that if you have to dash to the restroom or get snacks, someone can keep an eye on the baby. I wish they had a change table inside the theatre as well so you wouldn't miss any of the movie if you needed to do a change.
This is a great event to get moms out of the house and I felt like I was returning to the land of the living by doing something normal like going to the movies.
