| - I just finished eating dinner at this sushi restaurant around 8:30 PM and it has got to be the worst experience I've ever had, even worse than buffet sushi. This place is very far from the four stars it currently sits at.
I usually eat at Sakana in Ahwatukee, which for everyone that normally eats at House Modern Sushi I highly recommend to check out Sakana instead. If you do, you will see the huge difference in quality, quantity, and even pricing. There's a reason why that location is always packed, especially on the weekends.
I ordered the Chirashi (a traditional Japanese sashimi bowl) and a spicy tuna roll for my dinner. Not only was the rice dry and hard, the quality and portions of the sashimi and spicy tuna were very poor. I was charged $16.95 for a Chirashi bowl, and the sashimi cuts were extremely small. I have never seen sashimi so small in my entire life. The fish also smelled, which is a bad sign that it isn't as fresh as it should be. Sakana pretty much does a Chirashi bowl for the same price, but the sashimi cuts are huge! I really wish I took pictures to show the vast difference.
Avoid this place at all costs, unless you just want to waste your money and have a bad food experience. For all you sushi fans, if you decide to go here be ready for a very rude awakening of just how bad sushi can be. I thought it was already bad at Shimogamo (another poor sushi restaurant ) but this takes the cake when it comes to being the worst.
