| - I really enjoyed visiting L'Armoire (formerly L'Armoire a glaces, it seems they have changed their name to be more inclusive?).
From the outside, it just looked like an ice cream shop (actually a gelato shop, but seriously, they look the same), but they also offer a few interesting meal options at a reasonable price.
I went with the Grilled Cheese Sandwich trio, that came with a soup or salad (I had soup), a grilled cheese (I took the veggie option), and a bambino cone or cup of gelato. All told, this came out to $11.50 with the tax included. Not bad for an appetizer, main course, and dessert!
The soup of the day (yellow beets, butternut squash, and carrots) was very tasty, and held the heat for a long time; I had to let it cool down. Luckily the veggie grilled cheese sandwich (sun-dried tomatoes, nut-free pesto, and aged white cheddar) was also made well, and retained it's heat while I juggled between the two. I went with the Banana Ganache gelato in a cone (no extra cone charge :) ) which was a delicious end to my meal.
The server also kindly gave me a sample of the homebrewed Chai tea, which was different from any I've tasted before - it was creamy and frothy, and tasted a lot of milk, with nice notes of cinnamon and spices. I generally don't like teas since I find them watery and bitter, but this was the total opposite, and I'm really excited to try it again!
There were a lot of very appetizing gelato flavours to choose from, I definitely need to return to try a few more. I was also told that they make milkshakes, so I instantly perked up at that.
I'm also quite looking forward to trying the burrito, mmmm!
I was told that they're extending the hours for the summer, some nights they may even be open until 11 PM or midnight, so night people are welcome :).
I'll be back soon!
