  • The Neon Museum is a place near and dear to my heart. The first time I ever visited was on my birthday a couple years ago. My wife took me and being a Vegas trivia nut, I was in heaven. Over 150 vintage Las Vegas signs. The same ones I have seen for years both live as I pretty much grew up in Vegas as well as in books and Google images of vintage Las Vegas. Truly a magical place with nostalgia and history abounding. To boot, it is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit organization. The employees and volunteers all share a passion to preserve, restore, and share this uniquely Vegas collection and museum with all. Now having said all that, I must admit in the interest of full disclosure that after I went a second time with the wife I became truly hooked and decided to become a Volunteer Docent (Tour Guide). I am NOT a paid employee nor do I tout myself as such. I am strictly a volunteer and lead a guided tour for paid guests approximately twice a week for a total of about 8 hours a month. I had never written a full review of the Neon Museum and I've been meaning to for quite some time. The museum offers guided 1 hour tours during the day and night. I prefer night tours as the weather is much nicer (especially airing the warmer months) and I like seeing the restored signs lit up. To be clear, not all the signs are restored, and most never will be. The museum showcases both unrestored and select restored signs. At present, there are 7 fully restored signs out of over 150 on the tour. Signs cost quite a bit to restore and electricity to display so they come out slowly. More are being restored every day so you never know what you'll see next time. I absolutely love the Neon Museum. It is by far my favorite charity and I strongly recommend it to all.
