| - We were starving when our flight landed in Vegas. Luckily, they were flexible on our arrival time with the reservation, but I guess it wasn't totally full anyway even though it was a Friday night.
The warm bread basket was a nice way to start:
- Broccoli strombili: broccoli raab and cheese in bread
- Salami stromboli: better flavor with the fatty meat
- Ciabatta: doughy
- Focaccia: good olive oil flavor
These came with mascarpone butter (very subtle), lemon olive oil (nice), and an eggplant caponata, which I liked.
Pastas:
- Short rib agnolotti: better with some extra cheese. The first few bites were good, but it got pretty monotonous, and I wish they had a smaller portion of this. It was pretty rich
- Tagliatelle: with lots of vegetables. guanciale, and a truffle zabaglione. I wasn't expecting much from this dish, but the textures and the flavors turned out to be really good
Sides:
- Mushrooms: a pretty good portion, slightly oily, but good flavor
- Cauliflower: I liked the gremolata on top, and it actually went well with the agnolitti since the pasta was so rich
We tried ordering some cocktails, but most were pretty unremarkable, and they definitely weren't the craft cocktails I was hoping for. Food came out shockingly quickly, and I actually wish they had slowed it down a bit rather than bringing it all at once, since things got cold.
The view of the Bellagio fountains at night was beautiful (we got a seat by the window).. While the food was not bad, it wasn't as great as I expected, and I doubt the Vegas version does the original Scarpetta justice.
