Came here while on an Arizona visit. This place was recommended by friends who we were dining with. On the way over I read the reviews on YELP and was a little apprehensive.
We entered into a rather large eating area with only a scattering of tables occupied. We were seated right away and then the owner (older gentleman) came over to tell us that they were short staffed that evening.
My apprehension increased as we were going straight to the airport after dinner.
As others have mentioned the owner pulled a chair over to our table to tell us about the 4 lamb specials. 3 people ordered the lamb and rice special, someone had a chicken dish and I had the lamb gyro platter.
Each dish came with carrot soup which was tasty, but nothing special to write home about.
But the lamb dishes were great. And I loved my gyro dish. It had more substantial meat than you get at the places that just slice the lamb of the skewer. And the tzatziki sauce was thick and tangy.
Some people might be put off by the stark atmosphere, but if you want good food, I recommend giving this place a try. I'd come back again. It is hard to find good Mediterranean food places.
