| - I came here with a living deal voucher for an "acupuncture massage" and left with bruises.
Su B. is right, the place is pretty bare-bones, but as long as the massage was good, I could see past that.
I followed the receptionist to a room and was asked to take everything off except my underware and to put on what resembled a hospital gown.
A chinese man in his 40's gave me my massage, which was fine except I was sort of wishing I had kept my bra on now... He asked where I had pain and started the massage. He didn't speak much english so trying to ask him questions relating to my back and back pain were useless. What I did gather was that he was from Beijing and had practiced chinese medicine there. Ha! Could have fooled me. I'll take that with a grain of salt. The way he manipulated my body made me feel like he had absolutely no sense of the anatomy of the body and its muscles. He kept grunting during the massage and I had to tell him to go softer at least 10 times. At one point it felt like he was massaging bone. He went to town on my neck, which is where I ended up getting the bruises (which actually didn't surface until I got home). Today I found out from a co-worker that you should massage the neck with great caution, if at all, because you can cause arterial dissection which is NOT GOOD. I was so sore later, but not a good sore. It felt like he had done damage to my body. That night I could barely move my neck and I was feeling short of breath. Scary shit.
Oh, the clincher is that after basically being beat for an hour, they try to push a membership on you for their discounted rates on services. It's like, $100 and they're really aggressive about it so BUYER BEWARE. I will not be going back to redeem my second massage and will only trust Registered Massage Therapist's with my body from now on.
