Chose this hotel because my girlfriend's wedding was held here. I've stayed here once before, ten years ago when another of my girlfriends got married. It seems that this hotel has not kept up with the times. The hallway carpets have definitely seen better years.
During reservation, I requested for 2 queen beds, non-smoking. When we got off the elevator I could already tell that this was actually a smoking floor, no not in the good way. Sure enough when I opened the door to the room, a strong smell of nicotine mixed with a controlled "herb"/substance assaulted my nostrils. So I called the front desk right away to request for another room. "No problem" the operator said, but then we had to lug our stuff all the way back down to the front desk to be assigned another room. The second room was a lot better, but the beds looked so uninviting. The closet is in the bathroom/toilet combo, which was a hassle if you wanted to get dressed but there's someone doing their business in the shower or toilet. The room lighting was a lot dimmer than other hotels. The Airconditioning was old and took forever to cool the room down, but when it did, we couldn't increase the temperature. By nightfall we were freezing, guess what? We couldn't turn off the Airconditioning either. We had to situate the drapes over the vents to trap some of the cold air which was definitely a fire hazard.
The best things I found in the hotel were the Rocky Mountain chocolate store (which I didn't check out), Fuddruckers, TGI Fridays, and Sbarro for fast eats. Fuddruckers, TGIF, and Sbarro are open 24 hours.
My mom got to play on the slots and got a nice payout after putting in only $10. She didn't want to risk losing, so she called it a day after playing for less than 30 minutes. Good deal at the slots, but still wouldn't choose this hotel willingly next time.
