I toured Women's Birth & Wellness Center last year because I planned on having my baby naturally. I was excited about this place because it was close to home, and I have short labors, and it looked very homey and clean.
The good stuff:
Claudine Calligan was very nice and answered all of our questions. She was very knowledgeable. I liked the set up of the facility.
The not so good stuff:
There are only 2 birthing rooms. There was only 1 midwife (at the time). Scheduling our tour required several messages to get a call back.
The BAD stuff:
After the tour, I mentioned my thyroid issue and Claudine said she didn't know if she could take me. She said she would do some research and call me back. I offered her my number, and she said she already had it; which she did not. I called her 2 times in the weeks after our visit and left her voicemails. She never returned my calls. Wow. I understand that she's busy. I don't understand not returning a call, ever.
My thoughts were, what if I'm in labor and Claudine decides not to answer? Then what? Drive across town to the hospital after wasting time trying to get in touch with her? I have quick labors and I'm not going to chance my baby's birth to someone who can't even be counted on to return a phone call.
If you consider going here, please know that you may not be a priority. She might have other things going on and won't be able to attend to your needs. Please have a backup plan.
