| - You can take the boy out of NY, but you can't take the NY out of the boy....and it that happens- come to Rao's in Vegas!
The restaurant was very empty (being we were the first ones there), which is fine with me. I can enjoy the wall to wall saturation of Pictures ranging from Rao's history to celebrity autographs. But , to no ones surprise, as I was leaving the restaurant had a nice buzz from the crowd.
We were greeted by friendly hostess who sat us right away and even helped us in our seats (I feel a little out of place receiving such treatment , but hey- when in Rome...). The waiter Howie, a phenomenal guy, took care of our table & was more than pleasant to deal with , very professional & knowledgable of the menu and of the Rao's name. Howie's service to the table was second to none.
The food....oh boy the food. Heaven on a plate. The bread - fresh & delish. Gotta have some olive oil to dip of course. If not they serve a trio of butter. Roasted red pepper butter, unsalted & smoked onion butter. The seafood salad was done with such delicate care. Not overcooked at all. Tender !!!! The Caesar salad comes with huge shaved pecorino slices & the dressing- amazing. The meatballs you ask? Get them, try them, eat them and enjoy. No if, ands or buts about it. The Osso Buco w/ Saffron Risotto....one of the best I've had in a long time. The Spaghetti Bolognese was the traditional hearty meat sauce. Spaghetti was al denté, which is the way it's supposed to be. Unfortunately we didn't do dessert- I didn't wanna over do it. Besides we had to make a show.
I have been dying to get into the Rao's in Manhattan and can never get the opportunity but once I made plans to come to Vegas- the first thing I did was make reservations for Rao's - and boy was it worth it.
BUON APPETITE!!!
