The reviews on this place was spot on. Good food and friendly people.
Used the Yelp app to find a place for dinner near our hotel and this was top of the list. My son just got his braces so he was all for mash potatoes and baked mac and cheese.
We get greeted when we walk in and asked if we been here before. We say no and get a quick breakdown of the menu.
We decide on 2 catfish dinner combos, 1 chicken dinner combo and a kids plate. Cool thing is they have a sign that says food is made to order so it may take up to 20 mins. I am cool with that especially when they have the warning.
Food comes out piping hot. If you can be patient let it cool down or dig into the cornbread or sides. We got green beans, baked mac n cheese, mash potatoes with gravy, and potato salad. All of them good but the potato salad and the baked mac n cheese were my favorites. So tasty. I think I would be good with just those 2 sides.
Once I could hold onto the chicken and fish, I dug right in. The catfish fillets were huge and covered with breading. Crispy outside and very moist on the inside. Very good. Chicken is lightly breaded and perfectly golden. Again moist and crispy. I like the touch of pepper that is part of the coating. I love my hot sauce so I had to put some Louisiana hot sauce on my chicken. Mmmmmmmm.
We got there at 630pm and only ones there. In the hour we were there, the phone was constantly off the hook and the place was half full by the time we left.
I get how people are giving grief about the decor but c'mon, it's a southern fried food restaurant. It didn't bother me and the family. This family owned restaurant is no joke.
Skip the regular fried chicken place and check these guys out.
