Recently I had the Nissan Maxima checked out an Automotive Center on Nellis AFB for a diagnostic and to check out a slow leak coming from the car.
Found out that the steering fluid was leaking and needed repairs.
Not only did they find the leak they also found about 9 other things wrong with the car.
It was no surprise...this is an on-going joke or scam. Bring the car in for one thing and they give you a grocery list of things that need to be replaced or repaired.
Also the local Nissan Dealership did this on a regular basis after the warranty ran out - I went in for an oil change and would get an estimate for needed repairs - never failed.
Needless to say, I don't really trust most automotive centers at the dealerships or chains in general (especially the Nissan dealership and Pepboys in town). They tend to rack up the estimates a few 100 or 1000 dollars.
I came across Master Automotive Centers in North Las Vegas through a personal recommendation and saw the reviews here on yelp. Based on that I decided to bring the Maxima in to get a 2nd opinion. I met with Bill and Vic. They had their tech look the car over and confirmed some issues that Firestone had mentioned on their estimate, but also gave me insight on why I didn't need many of the repairs that Firestone had mentioned. Masters did find an issue that I was personally aware of that Firestone did not even mention in their analysis.
What I did like about Masters is Bill took the time to educate me on what repairs I needed and what I could hold off on. Bill was very friendly and easy to talk with - answered all my questions.
If you are experiencing any issues with your car, I would recommend giving them a call or bringing the car in to get it checked out by these guys. I finally feel like I found the honest mechanic that I have been looking for .
