  • I've been going to the prime rib loft for nearly a decade and have recommended it time after time again to friends and clients alike who always walked away happy from their meals. Now I'm not a big yelper but I wanted to reach out somehow to the loft in hopes that things will change for the better. Change is what they have done. They've changed the decor from the dark and misty cellar ambiance you'd find in a steak house in New Orleans to a bright, less authentic, setting. After the initial shock of he decor change I brushed it off because the food is awesome and my favorite dish in this town is their Oscar filet. Not only was the filet removed from the menu but there was not a filet period. The menu used to be a sturdy book menu that you'd find in traditional steak houses but this was replaced with a thin paper menu that totally took away from the luxury. The bread- petty I know but I love carbs- was different and transferred from delicious buttery rolls to bread sticks. Again, luxury removed. Lastly, the carb fan inside me again emerges, mashed potatoes were not offered where they traditionally had been. I'm sorry- when I go to a steak house I want masked potatoes. Instead baked and au gratin were offered which is strange considering mashed potatoes are cheaper for the house to make. In short- the loft used to be an amazing place to eat if you wanted to spend a little more on a popular local haunt. The changes they have made are a huge let down to its legacy and whoever is responsible for these changes does not deserve this place and the legacy they have ruined.
