  • We had a guy come to our home to give his 3 hour presentation on why we should pick Adair Solar to green our home. The services provided was a new solar hot water heater, KVAR unit, and Aeroseal our ducts. He said we will pay nothing because we will get nearly or over $6000 from gov't tax write offs, and OH WOW! We were given the special marketing discount (because they don't market or advertise on the tv or internet) of over $2000. So we will only have to pay a little over $4600. But if we are saving over 100/mo. on utilities, and only paying 56/mo to pay off the $4600, it's like we aren't paying anything out of pocket. Well we went ahead and did a credit application, and it really was $96/mo PLUS 14.5% interest. And since the bank only loans at min. $5000, that is our loan. We agreed because the presentation was clearly remarkable and we can save anywhere from 40-48% on average on our utility bills. Here's the thing, when we wanted to talk it over and sleep on it, he didn't leave. He wasn't pushy about the sale but something didn't sit right. So we had until 1/13 to cancel (which was the next day, today) We went ahead with it and they were able to set up an appointment the next day (again 1/13, the day we have to cancel by). To make this short, we did cancel because of the following. Overall, we would have to pay $96/mo for 120 months. (That's 10 years). This equals over $11,000 we would have to pay (that's with the 14.5% interest). PLUS not to mention the Gov't tax incentives we may or may not receive, and the total price including the incentives was 13,000. So in reality we would be spending $24,000 (now of course some of that is incentives). DO NOT DO THIS. Here's why. After some research this morning, I found a Solar hot water heater for $4600 (that's the minimum), KVAR unit from $180-$400, and the Aeroseal can cost you $450-$600 (which some home warranties may do for you). That's about 5600 MAX (if you purchase the cheaper hot water heater). Weigh out the pros and cons, I'd say the cons are pretty high up there. You can receive the Gov't tax incentives and green your home in a different way if you'd like. Again, do NOT have them scam you out of your money. That's all they want, and from researching complaints and reviews, I found one from a former employee who states " You will drop 10K or more and you will save nothing. The solar water heater is garbage. The Aeroseal does not work and the KVAR is a joke. If you fell for the scam go back and demand a refund. " So do your research, see what YOU can spend without using this company and their "tax incentives", etc. I'm certainly glad that we canceled our installation, hope you do the same.
