| - I've been with National thru my company for about 18 months. I travel quite a bit for work, covering nine states and have used them the whole time. This means I've reached the highest reward level possible w.National, Executive Elite. Recently my company switched over to a competitor, which hasn't worked out so well for me, and that's a different review. After only two bad experiences with the A rental company, I have found a way to come back to using National.
Tonight's trip into the Vegas area is a good example of why. I LOVE the counter bypass, where I go pick my car and drive off. Tonight, in the executive area, they seemed to have a limited selection of cars, all huge SUV's. Having the great experiences I've had with National, I knew there was more to the selection than meets the eye.
I found an employee walking by and it just happened to be the branch manager, Chad. I told him my dilemma of not liking the selection on hand (I like a smaller, faster sedan) and asked if there were more options. He walked me over to Alamo's executive selection and told me to take my pick.
Honestly, this is exactly what I expect from National. Their service is always top notch, everyone I've run across is very kind and seems to genuinely care about my experience. They go out of their way to make sure I get what I want and I appreciate it.
With that said, I never take this great service for granted and am extremely appreciative of their consistency and kindness.
One more thing; seldom do I have time to refill the gas. I usually work until I'm pushing time to run back to the rental car place and shuttle to the airport to catch my plane. National charges only for the amount of gas missing, normally just a couple of gallons. EXTREMELY fair!!! (Sometimes they don't even bother to charge if its just a gallon, but I don't want to get anyone in trouble!)
The other car rental place my work just switched to, which I will not name but just refer to them as the four letter word (starts with "A" and ends with "...vis") charged me $95 for a half tank of gas. Ninety. Five. Dollars. For about six gallons. I was appalled. I have no clue why my company switched. I will use National as long as possible. When I get told otherwise at my work, I'll find another job. Maybe National will hire me...we have the same work ethic and ideas on customer service!
