  • I'm kind of at a loss for words. I mean, it wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. I can say we definitely won't be going back for any of the sushi dishes, as each dish we tried (Mexican Roll, Bamboo Bite roll, and jalapeno tuna sashimi) reminded me of the "safe" sushi dishes I would try when I first forayed into the sushi world. The menu made the rolls sound creative and flavorful, but alas that wasn't the case. It's been years, possibly decades, since I've used soy sauce on any sushi that I was sad I had to resort to it here. Without the soy sauce, there was no flavor at all, and that's talking about rolls that purported to have special spices and sauces already added to them. The tuna sashimi was stringy, and not buttery and I could've done without the cucumber slice. On a positive note, the sushi didn't come off as "fishy" smelling or tasting, so there was that. After finishing the sushi, again which wasn't great, but wasn't horrible either, my husband and I decided to try the hummus. On paper, it sounded amazing, served with goat cheese and herbs infused into the hummus, and rainbow cauliflower and toasted baguettes for dipping. Again, the flavor was "okay" but there was too much of a layer of diced veggies dubbed as "bruschetta" on top of the hummus that we had to push to the side and the hummus itself had too much of an herb flavoring to it. We had two bites and finally just opted for a slice of chocolate cake to share. We will definitely go back and give it another try, as the menu boasted pastas, burgers, steaks, and salads that looked good as we saw them go by our table. The bar area looked like a great place to meet for apps and drinks, and catch a game or two and the outside seating in the arroyo area of DTS also looked inviting. Props to our server, who was friendly and efficient. I'm hoping our experience was just a fluke, and we are open to another visit.
