| - We've stayed at Marriott's Fairfield Inns for years all over the country and were very happy with them. On a trip to Arizona a few years ago, the Fairfield was full so we stayed at a Springhill Suite instead. We've stayed in them ever since. I've found they are usually about the same price or less than the Fairfield Inns but I suppose it depends on where it is.
My wife and I stayed at the Springhill Suites, Las Vegas Convention Center twice during 2015, once in Aug and again in Oct. We wanted a quiet, clean place, not near the strip.
Check in was fast and easy and the desk clerks were friendly. The parking was free (not always the case anymore in Las Vegas, especially downtown) and never a problem even on the weekends. There is no resort or amenities charge. Wi-fi, as in most Marriotts, is free and easy to connect with. The entire hotel is non smoking and there is no casino, both big plusses to us. There is a small bistro serving food and drinks by the lobby but we didn't have a chance to try it.
The elevators were clean and quiet and our rooms were easy to find. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated with a large bedroom and sitting room partitioned by a partial wall that had chairs, couch/bed and desk. The room also had a microwave oven, small refrigerator and what looked like a 40" flat screen TV. The bathrooms (one with shower and sink, one with toilet and sink) had a huge shower, no tub but then we don't use tubs; the bathrooms were clean and looked almost new. There were plenty of towels and complementary toiletries. The room had a nice view and was quiet. The beds were comfortable and well cleaned by housekeeping every day.
A pool is on the roof with a great view of the strip, even better at night.
There were a couple of problems. During the August stay, the AC in our room wasn't working properly so I called the desk. It couldn't have been more than two minutes later when a hotel engineer showed up, quickly fixed the broken thermostat control and gave us a quick and understandable lesson in how to work it. The next day the ice machine on our floor stopped working so I called the desk. Within 5 minutes one of the hotel engineers knocked on the door to tell me the ice machine was now working.
The comp breakfast had enough for us and waffles on the weekends. The service staff worked quickly to make sure all the food items were plentiful. The breakfast offering is a bit less than the Fairfield Inns (waffles every day) but it's not like we were deprived.
I heard from some of the other guests that it was a long walk to the strip. We had our car so no need to walk. However my children and grand children (ages 45 to 8) walked to Circus Circus and said it only took about 10 minutes.
While checking out in August, and complimenting the service, I mentioned to the desk clerk that it seemed as if the hotel has engineers waiting on every floor in case something needs to be fixed or they show up quickly because
there isn't much that needs to be fixed. The desk clerk said they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee and gave us some Marriott Awards points for our trouble.
We'll be staying there again.
