| - Avella Specialty Pharmacy, (formerly the Apothecary Shops). The name has changed, the store has moved, some policy's have changed. That's what happens over time, thing unfortunately change. After my fiancé received a kidney transplant in 2007 at Sunrise Hospital, her new medications prescribed from her nephrologist were ordered through the Apothecary Shops Specialty Pharmacy. The transplant nurse coordinator at Sunrise placed the order for the new medications before my fiancé was discharged from the hospital. When she was released from the hospital the Apothecary Shops had the new medications ready along with other medications that she was still going to need which were transferred from her previous pharmacy. The adjustment between pharmacies was flawless and a pleasant experience. The new medications prescribed after the transplant had a whole new schedule and instructions to follow. They also would come with some pretty awful side effects. Tom the pharmacist at that time sat down with us to discuss each particular medication. In detail he explained how and when to take each medication. He explained all instructions that needed to be followed with each medicine, and he explained what side effects to expect when she would begin to take them. The Anti-Rejection immunosuppressive medication regiment was initially a very complicated task which changed your lifestyle immediately, to be timed around your dosage hour. Before we left the Apothecary Shop, Tom the pharmacist had us completely understanding every step of the new medication regiment. We were able to go home and begin the medication with detailed instructions on what to do and what to expect. When a question or concern with the medications came up, we could contact the Apothecary Shops with our question and receive personal one to one customer service and detailed answers to our questions that would be explained to us as a patient and not a medical provider. When they answered our calls responding to us by our names, we never were placed on hold and always helped promptly. Medications refills were filled and the pharmacy would always have the medications filled and ready before the last months supply was run out. We never had to call to refill a prescription. If the medicine had no more refills left the Apothecary Shop would contact the nephrologist and get a new prescription before the last supply would run out. Because of this pharmacies complete obligation to filling the medication supply on time, we never once had to worry about the supply of medication running out. After several years of unprecedented service from the Apothecary Shops, we learned the pharmacy would be moving to a new location and changing its name. Avella was born, and they decided close the store in Summerlin and debut their new pharmacy on shadow lane, which had been the second location for the Apothecary Shops. With both locations across the street from hospitals. The new Avella on Shadow Lane is in the center of the Medical district serving Valley Hospital, University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, and the many medical offices in between. Our first visit to this new location was madness and the pharmacy was packed with patients. I knew the staff had their work cut out form them and that the service of the previous pharmacy would change with new management. To my surprise, the pharmacy staff was able to adjust into the new working environment and handle the much larger influx of patients. In time The Apothecary Shops Pharmacy was in the past and the new Avella pharmacy is where we have continued to have my fiancés medications filled every month. The new Avella pharmacy sends a text message to our phone when the next refill is due to be filled. Simply texting them back allows them to fill your medications and they are ready to be picked up by the time you arrive to the store. Every Pharmacist and technician are really wonderful people and make us feel right at home when we walk into the shop. Avella always bills the insurance correctly and we are never delayed by hiccups in that department. We have been coming to this pharmacy for years and will continue to use Avella Specialty Pharmacy for many, many years to come. Thank you for your excellent service over the years
