| - Yes, yes, the portions sizes are outrageous (the chicken salad sandwich was pushing 12 inches high) and the food excessive (a bacon bloody mary aka the BLT Mary), both of which are fine. But let's be honest here - the real highlight of going to Hash House A Go Go is the utterly amazing buttermilk biscuits and fresh fruit preserves!
The service here is really good too - super friendly and attentive. But back to the biscuits. They were massive in size, like everything else here, but baked perfectly that they had a crust to support the weight of the peach and pear preserves when spooned on yet still soft and chewy in the middle. Delicious. Shame on all of you other diners in the restaurant who didn't touch their biscuits. Don't you know there are starving people in the corner booth (aka me) who would love to have it for their own? No, really, you don't know what you missed out on.
As for the rest of the food, it's decent. Other than the massive portions garnished with a twig of rosemary, I don't know that the dishes are exceptionally unique. And the drinks, it's kind of the like the food. Everything done in excess and for show. Granted, the Bud in a Bag is funny enough that you should get it just for the photo op. And the BLT Mary, well why not?, you're already taking a year off your life with the plate of food you're consuming in front of you. But honestly, come here for the biscuits and preserves. It's worth the hour plus wait you're guaranteed to experience when you come here for breakfast/brunch/lunch.
