I'm not sure how I missed reviewing Gilcrease when they were open in the fall!
My husband and I took our niece and nephew. I would highly recommend going right when they open to beat the crowds. We went specifically to pick a pumpkin for Halloween and I will tell you that we looked at just about every pumpkin in that patch, because six year olds are very particular-and we FINALLY found the perfect one. We went through the apple orchard as well and grabbed a few apples. I think if we weren't with kids (and I wasn't carrying a 25+ lb toddler) we would have picked through some more things to take home.
We paid for our findings, and I regrettably didn't get any of the big jugs of cider. When I went back to get some after we ate, it was gone. Note to self: buy the cider first thing!
We had kettle corn, cider doughnuts, and cider at the concession stand. The popcorn was a big hit with the kids, but the doughnuts not as much. I think that was just because to them it wasn't a typical doughnut. My nephew said he didn't want frosting on them and it definitely made a difference with the taste. The apple cider is SO GOOD. Seriously, next year I will buy a few jugs and freeze them. I only got a single serving because of my previously mentioned mistake, and I kicked myself for it all fall. I'm hoping they may have some still frozen when they open up next month.
