Downtown Las Vegas is your go to spot for some of the cheapest prices on hotel rooms! Knowing this, I had decided to book a room at El Cortez Hotel during EDC weekend for 4 nights. The overall experience was good. It wasn't the best, nor was it the worst.
Arriving around the check in time of 3pm, there was a long line at the reception desk. Everybody was checking in for EDC weekend. I has asked originally for a room with a good view but was placed on the 2nd floor. Oh yeah, the room I was staying at had no elevator access so I had to trudge all the suitcases up a flight of stairs. As if I was not already tired from the long drive! After placing the stuff in the room, I had decided to venture around. The casino area is quite big. They do have a sports booking room and fully stocked bars all around. Their steakhouse Siegel's apparently has a dress code. No sleeveless allowed. So I couldn't venture in it. KInda dumb if you ask me. They also have a nice bar/lounge called The Parlour. Decently priced drinks here and a cool bartender named Jeremy!!
The overall stay was around $500. You do have to leave a $120 deposit, which they return to you upon check out. The rooms are small in size but very clean. Whenever I asked for anything, housekeeping was very professional and prompt in doing so. I probably would stay here again, but in a room with a much better view!
