  • I was excited to spend $1000 here today. It should have been easy to do. I wanted some cast iron cookware, new fishing poles for a family of 5, better sleeping bags, and whatever other fancy gadgets would make camping funner. After 2 hours of meandering around and not having a single sales associate ask if I needed help, I went out of my way to ask 2 separate associates where I could find cast iron Dutch ovens and children's fishing poles. Both associates pointed to where they were, but didn't stick around long enough for me to ask for a recommendation. I work in retail. If someone asked me about cast iron anything, I'd automatically upsell accessories...like the brushes and seasoning I found at Walmart. It would have been nice if the associate I asked about the poles bothered to inquire if I was lake fishing or ocean fishing...lucky for me, the guys at Big 5 and Walmart were able to help me out and the prices were better too. When checking out, the clerk didn't bother asking if I had a rewards card...even though I still managed to spend $300. He asked the guy behind me if HE had one, and when I asked him why he didn't ask me, he just shrugged and told me to go wait in another line at customer service. Luckily Shae was there to add the points into my dads account. Thank you Shae, for being helpful. This store is amazing and I would LOVE to see what other goodies were there, but after being treated like shit by the staff, I won't step foot in here ever again. That's a shame, because the selection is overwhelming...but I'll stick to the guys that are happy to see me at Big 5, Walmart and Amazon for anything else I need. Edited to add: I bought 2 sleeping bags here, and 1 had a big hole in it when I opened it. Waste of money. :(
