  • This is what would probably happen if a flea market, a garage sale and a food truck gathering all got trapped in that machine from The Fly. Brundlemarket? Whatever the hell you'd choose to call it, this hybrid food, craft, doodad event just east of downtown Cleveland is something to behold. We finally made it to one of these and it just so happened to be th first of the Fall season. A slightly chilly and quite breezy Saturday in September was the setting. It's a bit hidding back behind some old, brick industrial-like buildings so you've gotta keep your eyes open. Parking is pretty much wherever you can find a spot close to the event. We parked a couple block away and hoofed it. Need another hint? Just look for Indigo Imp brewery. It's right there. Like I mentioned earlier, this isn't your grandmas's flea market. There is beer from local breweries (both Indigo Imp and BottleHouse Brewing were serving up suds), there are food trucks serving everything from tacos to mini doughnuts, there's live music (we saw both a DJ spinning and a live two-piece band playing next to a row of vintage pinball machines) and plenty of stuff upon which to blow your hard-earned moolah. Speaking of stuff, it was a bit all over the map. There were quite a few vendors hocking vintage wares alongside artists and craftspeople. Sure, I suppose you could say some of it was overpriced, but what are you comparing it to? I saw a set of four vintage juice glasses priced at $55. Sounds expensive, but there's a buyer for everything I suppose. It just wasn't me in this case. I don't exactly know when Cleveland decided that it needed to transform itself into this sort of Bohemian, hipster paradise, but it certainly has. I wasn't nearly cool enough to be here, but whatever. Next time - if there's a next time - I might have to wear my skinny black jeans and fedora.
